Scandic Hotels Adopts Quinyx as its Workforce Management Solution

With a network of 280 hotels in six countries, Scandic is the largest hotel chain in the Nordics. To keep the hotels running smoothly, the company has 18,600 employees who greet the guests, clean the rooms, uphold well-stocked breakfast buffets, and ensure that the visitors have a pleasant experience every time they visit one of their hotels.

HR challenges and expectations for a new WFM solution

For a large company like Scandic, managing all the properties as efficiently and streamlined as possible is important. "To maintain a high level of service, we need to ensure that we have the right resources at the right time in all of our units. We also need to be able to adapt quickly to changing demands and run operations in the same way in all countries," says Fredrik Wetterlundh, CHRO at Scandic.

Scandic has seen stable growth in recent years and is focusing heavily on digitizing and streamlining internal processes. "Previously, we had several scheduling systems in use that also had different integrations, which made our workforce management too complex and maintenance-heavy. Further, it was impossible to have the same KPIs and staffing levels in all countries." As a result, the company was looking for a cloud-based scheduling solution that could be used across all their markets, be easily integrated, and provide a better planning and employee experience.

Scope and Future Outlook

Scandic will use Quinyx in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Germany and Poland. They will use Quinyx for scheduling, demand forecasting, and time & attendance. Additionally, they will use Quinyx Compliance Checker to ensure that they are always compliant with labor laws and contracts, and Advanced Analytics to gain valuable information to help them make more data-driven decisions.

Fredrik Wetterlundh looks forward to when the implementation is done. "By using Quinyx, we’ll have a better way of forecasting our staffing needs and doing operational planning, which will reduce costs and improve the employee experience. We'll also be looking at incorporating AI into our scheduling, and we're excited to see what else Quinyx develops in the future."
